“I took a huge break because I felt like there were so many other aspects of my experience as a human being that I wanted to deepen,” the 61-year-old star told People magazine.

Meg Ryan refers to being the mother of her two children Jack, 31, whom she shares with her ex-husband Dennis Quaid, and Daisy, 19, whom she adopted in 2006. Plus, she didn’t want to let the movies dictate her life. “It’s good to look at it as a job and not a lifestyle. And it’s a great way for me to sort things out,” she added.

Meg Ryan is known for her starring roles in the romantic comedies Sleepless in Seattle, When Harry Met Sally… and You’ve Got Mail. Eight years after starring in and directing 2015’s Ithaca, the actress is set to return to the big screen.

Her new feature film “What Happens Later” tells the story of two ex-lovers, played by her and David Duchovny, who are forced to spend the night at an airport after a snowstorm. “It came to me during delivery,” she explained. The main thing is that these two people stick together. I love the idea that we are stuck in a space, even if it seems contradictory, perhaps for healing purposes. »

“What Happens Later,” which the actress also co-wrote, will be released in U.S. theaters on November 3rd.
