Meg Ryan’s romantic comedy return and Hilary Swank’s new drama are ALSO pushing back release dates to avoid conflict with the Taylor Swift concert documentary… after the Exorcist sequel did the same
Meg Ryan’s romantic comedy return and Hilary Swank’s new drama are the latest projects to see their release dates pushed back after Taylor Swift’s concert film.
This Thursday it was announced that the documentary “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” will be released in theaters on October 13th.
The Eras Tour, still underway, has proven to be an economic juggernaut, pushing Taylor ever closer to billionaire status.
When news of their concert film’s release date broke on Thursday, ravenous Swifties snapped up so many tickets that, according to Variety, they broke the AMC advance sales record previously held by Marvel hit “Spider-Man: No Way Home.”
Now, to avoid a collision with Taylor’s film, both Meg’s film What Happens Later and Hilary’s film Ordinary Angels are changing their release dates.

What Happens Later, Meg’s first film in eight years, was originally scheduled to be released on October 13, the same date as Taylor’s film.
However, a new report in Deadline this Friday revealed that the release date has now been pushed back three weeks to November 3rd.
Ordinary Angels has also forgone an October 13th release date, although a new release date has not yet been publicly announced, according to Deadline.
Under the terms of the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike, Hilary is currently prohibited from engaging in promotional activities for her film.
However, should the release date be pushed back to after the strike ends, Hilary would have the opportunity to do the promotional rounds, something she’s said to be very keen on.
In Ordinary Angels, based on a true story, Hilary plays a hairdresser who meets a widowed father and dedicates herself to getting his seriously ill daughter the liver transplant she needs to survive.
In “What Happens Next,” which Meg also wrote and directed, her counterpart David Duchovny stars as an ex-partner who discovers that they still have chemistry.
The two meet by chance at an airport and stay together after both of their flights are delayed for hours.

Next up: On Thursday, the same day it was announced that Taylor’s film would be hitting theaters on October 13, The Exorcist: Believer also made the move to change its release date
They pass the time by discussing the unfinished business of their past romance, two decades after their breakup.
On Thursday, the same day it was announced that Taylor’s film would hit theaters on October 13, a sequel to “The Exorcist” also made the move to change its release date.
But instead of delaying the release as was the case with the other films, The Exorcist: Believer is now scheduled to hit theaters on October 6th, a week earlier than expected.
Although it is the sixth installment in the series, Believer is designed as a direct sequel to the late William Friedkin’s original 1973 film.
