Megan Thee Stallion settles years-long legal battle with her former record label as they “part ways amicably” … after the artist revealed she is self-funding her career

Megan Thee Stallion has settled a three-year legal battle with her former record label, almost a week after she revealed she was self-funding her career.

The 28-year-old Texas rapper is now a free agent as she and record label 1501 Certified Entertainment have finally reached an agreement after a bitter legal battle.

Billboard reported Thursday that the “Hot Girl Summer” rapper had reached an agreement with former MLB player Carl Crawford’s record label, “mutually reaching a confidential settlement to resolve their legal differences.”

As part of the deal, Megan and the record label will “amicably part ways.”

1501 Certified Entertainment released a statement to the publication saying, “Both Megan and 1501 are pleased to put this matter behind them and move on to the next chapter of their respective businesses.”

Former Los Angeles Dodgers player Crawford said he and his company “wish Megan all the best in her life and career.”

The exact terms of the contract, including whether an exchange of funds took place, were kept secret.

Last week, the rapper revealed during an Instagram Live appearance that she is currently working without the support of a record label and also opened up about 1501 Certified Entertainment.

The rapper spoke about her experiences as an independent artist and explained that she is also looking forward to her future as a musician.

The Grammy winner, who recently released a nude photo to promote her upcoming work, also revealed that she currently has to finance her future projects without outside support.

However, Megan explained that she sees working without a label as a positive step for her career.

“I’m so excited to do something independent for the first time because it was just me and my mom. “I’m so excited because it’s really just up to me until we sign to a new label,” she said.

The hitmaker, née Megan Jovon Ruth Pete, also noted, “We’re funding everything straight out of Megan Thee Stallion’s pockets. “So the budget comes from me.”

She added: “Mother damn hot girl productions. ‘We’re in my pockets sweetie, so let’s do our big thing!’

Megan further explained that she has no problem working as an independent artist for now.

The WAP rapper noted that she currently has no plans to “sign to a new label because I just want to do it myself.”

The hitmaker also spoke about her past conflicts with her former label, 1501 Certified Entertainment, accusing the company of not supporting the release of her second record.

Megan recalled that executives at 1501 Certified Entertainment “said, ‘Shit, Traumazine is going to hell.'”

The Grammy-winning artist signed with her previous label in 2018 and released her debut EP, Tina Snow, with the company’s support.

However, the artist’s relationship with the company quickly deteriorated and she obtained an injunction against 1501 Certified Entertainment in 2020 after a dispute began there over her contract.

The rapper claimed her former label prevented her from releasing music against her will.

The hitmaker filed a lawsuit last year after claiming that her 2021 compilation album “Something for Thee Hotties” was actually considered a full record, contrary to 1501 executives’ beliefs.

Traumazine was released jointly by 1501 Certified Entertainment and 300 Entertainment in August last year.

The album received positive reviews from critics and peaked at number four on the US Billboard 200 chart.
