Harry and Meghan Markle denied the apology from the British newspaper The Sun. The text in question was written by TV presenter Jeremy Clarkson and has been heavily criticized by admirers of the Duchess of Sussex. She has exposed several controversies about the royal family, such as being prevented from seeking help over her suicidal thoughts.

The couple said through a spokesman that they did not accept the message. “The fact that The Sun has not contacted the Duchess of Sussex to apologize shows her intentions. It’s nothing more than a PR stunt.”

“While the public fully deserves the regret of publication for their dangerous comments, we would not be in this situation if The Sun did not continue to capitalize on and exploit hatred, violence and misogyny,” the report reads.

“A genuine apology would be a change in your reporting and your ethical standards for everyone. Unfortunately, we’re not holding our breath for that,” the note continued.

The Sun message receives record number of complaints

TV presenter Jeremy Clarkson wrote in his column at the time: “Meghan is a different story though. I hate them. Not like I hate Nicola Sturgeon or Rose West. I hate them on a cellular level.
