Mel B has admitted she can't be called “Scary Spice” today because people would find it offensive.
The 48-year-old singer, who rose to fame as part of '90s girl band Spice Girls, adopted the nickname after one of her early interviews.
However, Mel has now said that the name isn't as accepted in today's world as the world is “a bit too politically correct”.
Despite this, she revealed that she still loves the nickname and that they are “still the same” 30 years after the girl group formed.
When they broke onto the music scene in 1994, each member was given a name – Scary, Posh (Victoria Beckham), Ginger (Geri Halliwell), Baby (Emma Bunton) and Sporty (Melanie Chisolm).

The singer, who rose to fame as part of '90s girl band Spice Girls, adopted the nickname after one of her early interviews (pictured in 1996).
When asked what she thought about being nicknamed “Scary Spice,” Mel B told Elizabeth Day on the How To Fail podcast: “I think we're a little too politically correct now.” I'm in the latter has become quieter over the years.
“If you were interviewing me before, I would say, ‘Show me your questions.’ I would be the protector of the group that comes in there. “Wait a minute.”
“It could perhaps be seen as a bit too Nordic, perhaps a bit too lively or spooky, so that name was given – and I love it.”
Mel B said her nickname came from the “simple fact” that she was “a bit scary” with “larger than life hair”.
She added: “That's just me.” But in this day and age, that would offend anyone. But I don't take offense.
“Whether you are black, white or mixed, there is something scary in all of us.”
The girl group all received nicknames after they were interviewed for an article in Top of the Pops magazine in July 1996.
The singer said that even though 30 years have passed since they first formed, she thinks, “We're still the same.”
However, Mel has now said that the name wouldn't be as accepted in today's world as the world is “a bit too politically correct”.
She continued: “And I just want to make it clear that the names we were given were by a lazy journalist from a small pop magazine who didn't bother to remember our full names.”
“So he was like, well, that looks a little scary because she already grabbed my notes and has crazy hair and leopard-print nails, so he just gave us a name like that.
“We were all like, 'God, I really like my name.'
“It's funny because to this day Emma loves pink – and if it were up to her she would put her hair in ponytails.”
“Mel C, you can never get her out of a tracksuit and she always has her hair pulled back in a ponytail.”
“Victoria is very elegant and elegant.” Gerry, she has undergone a bit of a change, but she is still the lively Union Jack girl among herself and the lady of the art.
“We’re all exactly the same, which is great considering we started at 17, 18, 19 and now we’re 48, 49, 50.”
It comes after Melanie C revealed Mel B was exaggerating when she teased there would be a Spice Girls reunion.
The 50-year-old singer – also known as Sporty Spice – poured out hopes of the band getting back together.
Scary Spice Mel B teased an announcement involving all five members that was “due soon” last year.

But Mel C has now put an end to the rumors as she told The Sun: “Mel, I adore her and she's got this thing and it can get us into trouble sometimes. “Of course we always talk about how we'd like something different make.
“I would love to get back on stage with the girls, but everyone wants to do something different or in a different way, so I'm just trying to get everyone on the same page at the same time.”
“But Melanie loves manifesting things and she believes that if she says it enough times, it will happen.” “I can't confirm that anything will happen soon, but we always talk about opportunities.”
Last May, Mel B said her former bandmate Victoria would be returning to the Spice Girls for a mystery project.
She claimed that an exciting announcement was in the pipeline for the girl power group, but remained tight-lipped on the details.
However, she promised that “all five girls” would get together professionally for the first time in 11 years.
The last time the Spice Girls reunited was for a legendary performance at the closing ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics.
In 2019, the band embarked on a stadium tour in the UK, but 49-year-old fashion designer Victoria notably decided not to join in as she was too busy with her clothing brand.
Mel B revealed that the five Wannabe hitmakers would soon release a statement about their secret project and are currently busy “perfecting” it.
