Melinda French Gates opens for the first time since her divorce from Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates.

French Gates sat down for an interview with Gail King of CBS Mornings, which will be broadcast in its entirety on Thursday morning. In a preview of the interview, French Gates described what led to her high-profile divorce, including revelations that Gates had an affair in 2000.

“I certainly believe in forgiveness, so I decided we worked through some of it,” said French Gates. “It didn’t happen one moment or one thing. There was just a time when there was enough that I realized it wasn’t just healthy and I couldn’t trust what we had.”

She described being angry after their marriage and said she was “grieving the loss of something … that you think you’ve had all your life”.

“I’ve had a lot of tears for many days, days when I’m literally on the floor … thinking, ‘How is this possible?’ How can I become? How will I move forward? ”She said.

The French Gates and Gates announced in May 2021 that they were divorcing after 27 years of marriage. After their divorce became public, it was revealed that French Gates has been seeking a divorce since 2019, after Gates’ relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein came to light. Reports also describe Gates as pursuing sexual affairs with employees during his tenure as Microsoft’s chief executive.

Their divorce was finalized last August, after which French Gates joined the ranks of the richest women in the world. Its current net worth is about $ 11 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
