In an upcoming interview with Gail King on CBS Mornings, she explained why the separation was not a sudden decision, but an ongoing process after learning about her husband’s affair. “I certainly believe in forgiveness, so I decided we had been through some of it,” she explained. “Not one moment or one thing happened.” But there was a moment when Melinda realized that their union was over. “There just came a time when there was enough there that I realized it was just not healthy and I couldn’t trust what we had,” she added.
Turning to the heart that followed, she acknowledged that there had been “many tears for many days” and questioned everything they had built together as a family for almost three decades. “I must have been angry for days. This is part of the process of grief, “the 57-year-old philanthropist continued. “You grieve the loss of something you thought you had and thought you had all your life. These are painful things. ” Although there must have been dark times during the separation, she wants to give hope to other women because she is now on a “journey of healing.”
After the couple’s divorce ended in August 2021, Melinda is “really excited about what’s coming in her life” while making plans for herself professionally and personally. “I feel like I’m starting to get on the other side,” she said. Now I feel like I’m turning the page in my head.
