Melissa Rivers shared that her thoughts on adopting a child have changed at the age of 54.
On Sunday, the TV host, who previously stated that she is “80 percent there” to expand her family in her 50s, gave an update on where she is in the adoption process.
“A lot of people have told me how incredibly difficult it would be for me,” Melissa told host David Yontef on the Behind The Velvet Rope podcast.

She continued, “I’m over 50. I’m a single person … Yes, I’m sure I could make it, but I’ve really come to the conclusion that I’m not sure it would be fair to one.” Child.

However, the Fashion Police star went on to say that she hadn’t completely ruled out the idea.

“But I don’t want to, you know, people say, well, you can fulfill special needs and they give them a wonderful life.
She added: “And I’m thinking about this stuff, but I’m also thinking, is it really fair? is it fair That was what mattered. And everyone else told me how difficult it would be for me to do this.

The Joy actress, who was born Melissa Warburg Rosenberg, is the only child of the late legendary comedian Joan Rivers and producer Edgar Rosenberg.
Last August, she said she’s prone to adopting a child and admitted her mother Joan’s advice to collect eggs in her 30s still keeps her up at night.
During an interview on the Chanel In The City With Chanel Omari podcast, she explained that she’s been thinking about giving a home to an underprivileged child for “a long time” and that she now feels ready to be a mother again.
She revealed: “I’m very close. I’ve thought about it for a very long time. I’ve been thinking about this for about six years now.

“Sometimes it feels like the absolutely right decision, sometimes it doesn’t feel like the right decision. It’s obviously not something I take lightly. I would say I’m about 80 percent there.”
Melissa said there are many factors that go into the decision, including whether it’s fair for a child to have an older parent.
She explained: “What’s really stopping me is, you know, would it be fair for the kid to unfortunately have a little bit older parents?
“Not that there’s anything wrong with that, because I’m definitely very active and, you know, a walker! There is a lot to think about, there are a lot of very important things to think about. There are only a few things I still grapple with.
Melissa also revealed that her mother Joan – who died in September 2014 at the age of 81 – advised her many years ago to freeze her eggs so that, as an older woman, she could get pregnant before it was too late.

She said: “I wish I’d listened to my mum who wanted me to freeze my eggs when I was in my 30s and I was like, ‘Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no! Now I’m thinking, “I should have done it.” But so be it.’
Melissa reiterated her adoption plan, adding, “I’m close to doing it, yes. There are just a few things that keep me up at night.”
Melissa first revealed that she wanted another child on the Divorced Not Dead podcast in June.

She told host Caroline Stanbury at the time: “I would like to have another child. And I don’t feel like I have to be married to do that.
“My friends say, ‘You’ve lost your mind.’ We’re all at that point in our lives where our kids are all just coming out. They laugh. They say, “Really? Do you want to get through the stress of even going to college again?” They say, “Are you sure you want to do that?”
Melissa reiterated that she actually wants to do it and “would definitely adopt.”
