Memphis Grizzlies’ Ja Morant apologizes after video emerges showing him with a gun – CNN

(CNN) Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant apologized about his Depiction Saturday after he posted a video of himself appearing to be holding a gun earlier in the day.

“I take full responsibility for my actions last night,” the statement said. “I’m sorry to my family, teammates, coaches, fans, partners, the city of Memphis and the entire Grizzlies organization for letting you down. I will take some time to get help and work on learning better ways to manage stress and my overall wellbeing.”

The NBA’s Memphis Grizzlies announced earlier on Saturday that Ja Morant “won’t be on the team for at least the next two games,” according to the Instagram Live post.

The Star Point Guard’s Instagram and Twitter accounts have since been deactivated.

NBA insiders say league is investigating star point guard and video.

“We are aware of and are investigating a social media post involving Ja Morant,” NBA spokesman Mike Bass told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and The Athletic’s Shams Charania.

In the clip, posted early Saturday morning and widely circulated on social media, the 23-year-old briefly displays what appears to be a gun while reportedly listening to music at a nightclub, according to Wojnarowski.

CNN has reached out to Morant’s representative for further comment.

The rest of the team will travel to Los Angeles to face off against the Clippers on Sunday and the Lakers on Tuesday, both at Crypto.com Arena.
