The Cuban Yolanda BenetMuse of the song “Yolanda” by Paul MilanHe wrote a touching message to his recently deceased daughter, the singer Suylen Milanes.
The heartfelt lyrics were published on Yolanda’s Facebook profile and are inspired by Suylén’s birthday, who would have turned 51 on April 3rd.
“Today you first birthday off this earth and the pain of your absence eats away at my soul. Today more than ever I felt the lack you make me, your warm and loving hug and your interest in always knowing if I’m happy,” Yolanda said in her message.
The Cuban mother said she spoke to her daughter the day before she suffered Stroke requiring hospitalization and until his later death.
“I spoke to you the day before the tragedy, not knowing it would be the last time. You told me about your future plans, your desire to see me, we talked about your children, your life, without knowing that it was our goodbye. I arrived in Cuba hoping to see you and you were gone. I preferred to keep your smiling picture and remember you that way,” Yolanda wrote.
In her message, she tells how, when she found out about her daughter’s death, she locked herself in Suylen’s house and tried to fill her emptiness with memories. She rediscovered her presence in the photographs, in the artworks the artist created and in every object she commemorated.
“You left my girl, but Your precious work remains. It will be hard to forget you. they all loved you There was no place where you would arrive and be ignored because you radiated an infectious energy,” he commented.
Yolanda thanked that Shows of affection from Suylén and her family during her hospital stay and after her death. He stated that they received messages from good friends and total strangers from different parts of the world.

Yolanda Benet and Pablo Milanés had three daughters together. They are Lynn, Suylen and Liam.
Suylen Milanes She was a musician, singer and general manager of the cultural institution PM records. She had two surviving children, Pablo and Camila. He also had four other siblings, Haydée, Antonio, Pablo and Rosa, children of Pablo Milanés in other marital relationships.
