Messages without a “matcher”: A new paid VIP option from Tinder that is being denounced by users

Dating app Tinder has brought out the big guns for singles who want VIP perks, including the ability to send messages without prior matching, but many seem less than convinced by the pricey offer.

“Did you forget a comma?” A first Internet user reacted to the high prices of the subscription on the X platform, “The Independent” announced on Wednesday.

The new Tinder Select subscription, which sells for $499 per month or $6,000 per year, has widened the eyes of many users of the dating platform who are still far from convinced that the benefits outweigh the price are really worth it.

“Now you can be alone AND poor,” another quipped in a tweet. “It costs more than my monthly gas payments,” a third chimed in.

The platform thus allows its VIP members to avoid virtual queues by showing the subscriber’s profile directly to the people they are interested in, instead of mixing it up and putting it in a queue among the others.

You can also send direct messages to other users without having to “match” them twice a week first.

Your profiles will also be able to see and be seen by the most searched profiles for “more extraordinary connections,” Tinder said on its website.

However, these options are far from unanimous, and some fear receiving unsolicited messages.

“Spending $500 to contact people who weren’t interested feels like serious harassment,” another user denounced, according to The Independent.

However, the subscription will only be offered to a small percentage of users, who will be selected and invited from the platform’s most active users, British media said. Those who are members have the option to display an ID card or not to indicate their membership in the VIP group.
