Metallica makes a ‘slip’ during show in Morumbi: ‘Estádio do Palmeiras’

Sao Paulo and Palmeiras Star in one of the country’s greatest rivalries, and Metallica’s show last Tuesday served to spice up that antagonism even further. During the event, which took place in Morumbi, home of São Paulo, organizers dubbed the venue on the big screen as “Estádio do Palmeiras”.

The “slip” caught the attention of the audience in attendance. The sentence made many Palmeiras fans delirious. Alviverde fans used the situation to make fun of the tricolor on social media.

Just before the show, pictures of the band’s past performances in Brazil were shown. Palestra Itália, the former Palmeiras Stadium, was the stage for a presentation by the group in 1993.

Palmeiras and São Paulo met in the final of this year’s Campeonato Paulista and Abel Ferreira’s team clinched a historic 40 win over their rivals at the Allianz Parque. With this “slip” at the Metallica show, Alviverde fans now have another reason to poke fun at their rival.
