Miami Dade Factory Explosion Leaves Two Dead And Three Injured

Two dead and two injured were the victims of a powerful fire that broke out at a welding shop in Medley, Miami Dade, on Tuesday morning.

Firefighters extinguished the fire, which started from an explosion that began at about 8:45 a.m. at 11300 NW S. River Drive. Officials said rescue teams arrived and found several vehicles on fire.

Authorities confirmed workers were working with heavy machinery before the fire broke out, Local 10 reported.
Firefighters are still trying to figure out what caused the explosion.
The environment was dangerous as there were many combustible materials in the area.
One adult was flown to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center in critical condition, and another was hospitalized, authorities confirmed. A third victim was evaluated and treated by first responders at the scene.

“Our units deployed multiple hose lines to control the fire while navigating downed power lines in a very dangerous scene,” said Assistant Fire Chief Danny Cardesa.

Roads in the area will remain closed while the investigation is ongoing.
