Two dead and two injured were the victims of a powerful fire that broke out at a welding shop in Medley, Miami Dade, on Tuesday morning.
Firefighters extinguished the fire, which started from an explosion that began at about 8:45 a.m. at 11300 NW S. River Drive. Officials said rescue teams arrived and found several vehicles on fire.
- Authorities confirmed workers were working with heavy machinery before the fire broke out, Local 10 reported.
- Firefighters are still trying to figure out what caused the explosion.
- The environment was dangerous as there were many combustible materials in the area.
- One adult was flown to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center in critical condition, and another was hospitalized, authorities confirmed. A third victim was evaluated and treated by first responders at the scene.
“Our units deployed multiple hose lines to control the fire while navigating downed power lines in a very dangerous scene,” said Assistant Fire Chief Danny Cardesa.
