Michael Caine, the beloved actor nearing retirement? “I’m 90 damn years old and I can’t walk well” Best Film

After a long and prestigious career, the popular British actor Michael Caine He might actually be ready to take that long-delayed step back and retire from the world of acting for good.

The now ninety-year-old actor is fresh from filming The great refugeea film based on the true story of Bernard “Bernie” Jordan, a Royal Navy veteran who fled his retirement home at the age of 89 to travel to France to take part in the 70th anniversary of D-Day, and in a recent interview hinted that it could be his latest film project:

I arrived 90 damn years now, and I can’t walk the way I want and so on. Now I can say that I am retired.

This is not the first time that Michael Caine has openly expressed his opinionIntention to retire. In 2021, after participating in the comedy “The Last Book” by Lina Roessler, the actor hinted that he felt like he was one step away from retirement and that the film could have been the last of his long artistic journey .

However, the pandemic-related forced break in recent years would have caused the actor to give in one last appearance on set:

I was really happy to do this film. I loved the character of Bernie. I thought it was incredible and it’s really, really well written. They gave me a really good cane and I was able to do scenes that required it. I could just one shototherwise I wouldn’t have been able to get up. Just one take and that’s it.

Michael Caine then added a reflection on the impact of reaching his venerable age, making a Assessment of his private and professional life. The actor in particular was threatened with death, but this doesn’t seem to worry him too much:

The worst thing is that so much of your life disappears. You can’t run, you can’t play football, and little by little you realize that you are close to death. At age 90, death could be imminent. But I’m quite satisfied. I sit here and write, do my thing. I like. I have two children, three grandchildren and a wife…they will all catch up with me at some point. No one will say, “I’m so sorry you’re going to die – I wish you were like me and didn’t die.” Everyone will die. At least I made it to 90, damn itI didn’t die at 9, 19 or 29 years old. I’m 90 and have had the best possible life I could imagine. The best possible wife and the best possible family. They may not be the family others would consider the best possible family, but to me it is the best possible family.

The sufferings of old age therefore appear to have put an end to the productive and prestigious career of Michael Caine, who now seems more determined than ever to enjoy life deserved retirement. While we wait to discover the distribution methods in our country, we remind you that The Great Escaper will debut on the big screens in the United Kingdom on October 6th.
