During an appearance on CBS Mornings on Thursday, the Back to the Future actor revealed that he wouldn’t have blamed his wife if she had left him after the diagnosis.

“I would have forgiven him at any time for telling me, ‘I’m leaving.’ But she didn’t,” said Michael J. Fox enthusiastically. “She reminded me that she was there for better or worse, in sickness and in health. She was able to help me through this ordeal and overcome it by my side. She’s been doing this for 35 years…”

He added: “We knew the bus was coming and that it was going to hit, but we didn’t know how far away it was or how fast it was going. »

The actor was diagnosed with the disease in 1991, three years after he and Tracy Pollan married. The couple met while working together on the fourth season of Sacred Family.

“I don’t know what it’s like for them,” Michael J. Fox joked about their 35-year marriage. “I love Tracy, that’s obvious, and she is an extraordinary person who has been through a lot. »

The 62-year-old continued: “I realize she lives a different life to me with Parkinson’s or to Alex Keaton or Marty McFly, she’s a person. “I think that’s why everything turned out well. »

Tracy Pollan, 63, and Michael J. Fox have four children: Sam, 34, twins Schuyler and Aquinnah, 28, and Esmé, 22.

In May, Michael J. Fox released his documentary Still. He describes his acting career, his relationship with his wife and his 30-year battle with Parkinson’s disease.
