Michael Owen is flying off on holiday despite not yet meeting Gemma’s Love Island partner Luca Bish

He chose not to visit Villa Love Island for the episode “Meet the Parents” of this series when her mother Louise flew to Mallorca to see her daughter.

And on Tuesday Michael Owen, 42, flew on holiday despite not yet meeting daughter Gemma Owen’s Love Island partner Luca Bish, after the couple admitted they are still not official.

The famous footballer took to his Instagram, where he shared a smiley face of himself looking happy and tanned, writing alongside it: “Few days of sun.”

While Michael hasn’t met Luca, he did reunite with daughter Gemma over the weekend after their stint on Love Island, with a party at their Chester mansion.

On Monday, Gemma and Luca revealed they have yet to make their relationship official – despite being linked on the show for almost two months.

And the pair have since been spending time apart, with the brunette beauty in Manchester for business deals while the Brighton-based fishmonger was down south.

An inside source exclusively told Web that Gemma would be meeting with PLT CEO Umar Kamani to negotiate a deal of up to £1million.

Michael’s holiday abroad comes after Luca revealed during the Love Island reunion special that he has at least finally spoken to Gemma’s famous footballer dad.

Host Laura Whitmore questioned Luca if he had spoken to Michael Owen since he left the Love Island villa last week and asked the fishmonger: “I know you’ve met her mum, have you met her dad yet?”

Luca replied: “Not yet, we had a little bit of FaceTime together and that was it.”

Referring to the comparisons between Luca and Michael, which were highlighted by Gemma’s mother Louise during last month’s episode “Meet the Parents,” Laura joked, “Was it like looking at yourself in the future?”

Gemma buried her face in her hands and murmured: “Oh god!” before looking up and saying: “I can’t see it at all you know? And it actually makes me a little sick just thinking about it.’

Laura laughed, “They say we all have this complex where you go for one of your parents!”

The couple sparked speculation as things got tense between them when Gemma’s social media account handlers failed to release a reference to Luca following the Love Island finale.

Following Gemma and Luca’s second place finish, Luca’s family were quick to congratulate the couple, posting a snap of them along with an exuberant caption.

It read: “Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the support you have shown this beautiful couple. So excited to continue watching your journey from the outside. You really won by finding each other.”

This was in stark contrast to Gemma’s Instagram, which noticeably only posted solo snaps of the brunette beauty before and after the finale, with Beau Luca being noticeably absent.

Her loved ones shared a solo snap of Gemma in a nude ruched dress, writing the caption: “Words cannot describe how proud we all are of Gemma.”

“She showed the nation just how mature, honest and stylish she really is. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the love and support… Gemma will be SO overwhelmed.

“We’re now giving that back to Gemma… We loved running her account and being a part of her @loveisland journey. We can’t wait to see what the future holds.”

Eagle-eyed fans at home were quick to take notice and tweeted that Gemma’s family didn’t like Luca very much and that they were doing “damage control” to protect Gemma’s brand.
