Michelle Pfeiffer gives an insight into the formulation of her unisex fragrance line Henry Rose.
And during Molly Sims’ podcast Lipstick On The Rim, the actress revealed that in one instance she unknowingly took inspiration from her late father, Richard Pfeiffer.
“I didn’t know if it was actually possible to formulate a fragrance that would compete in the market as a fine, premium fragrance,” she told Sims of a time she was trying to find a particular scent.
The three-time Oscar nominee continued, “Throughout this process, the perfumers kept saying to me, ‘Where is this taking you? Tell us, does it take you somewhere?” “I realized I wanted to formulate my father’s cologne.”
Pfeiffer, 65, went on to say that it can be difficult to find something she “really” loves when it comes to fragrances, but once she finds it, she gives in completely.
Emotional: Michelle Pfeiffer, 65, recently shared that one of the new fragrances for her Henry Rose brand was inspired by her late father, Richard Pfeiffer
And it sparked an emotional response as she chose scents that reminded her of her late father, who she revealed used to wear Old Spice.
“I didn’t know that’s what I do and I didn’t know that’s why I’m drawn to this particular fragrance category, because it’s very emotional and you always have a really pleasant experience in it can be traced back to his life.’ She explained.
The actress shared an insight into why she chose the brand’s name, Henry Rose, which turned out to be just as personal.
“I was constantly thinking and thinking about what felt organic and authentic for this brand.” And I kept coming back to my kids,” she shared.
Because of this connection to her two children, Claudia Rose, 30, and John Henry, 28, she decided to use their middle names to create the brand name.
“And so it’s their middle names, and so it’s Henry and Rose and you know, and it also reflected that it was a genderless brand, which was important,” explained the Santa Ana native.
The Grease 2 lead, who shares her two children with producer husband David E. Kelley, gave birth to Henry Rose in 2019.
Her decision was prompted by her concerns about the safety of perfumes, which had led her to avoid them for a decade.
