Michelle Williams made a rare appearance with her husband Thomas Kail at Creative Time’s 2023 Gala at Skylight at Essex Crossing in New York on Wednesday night.

The 43-year-old actress cut a chic figure in a black mini dress as she cozyed up to her 45-year-old theater director at the event.

The stylish velvet off-the-shoulder style had a ruffled bodice and statement sleeves, and was styled with black strappy heels.

She accessorized with a gold clutch and matching sparkly earrings as she gazed at her love with devotion.

Meanwhile, Thomas looked dapper in a black suit jacket, matching trousers and a crisp white shirt.

Michelle and theater director Thomas got engaged in 2019 after working together on Fosse/Verdon and married in March 2020.

They have three-year-old son Hart, whom they gave birth to in June 2020, and another baby who joined the family in 2022.

Michelle also has daughter Matilda Ledger, 17, from her relationship with late actor Heath Ledger, who died in 2008 aged 28.

Michelle recently took the internet by storm when Britney’s bombshell book hit shelves earlier this month.

Michelle’s recounting of this went viral, largely due to her mocking imitation of Justin Timberlake, who did an accent to impress black musicians.

In the book, Britney accuses Justin of trying “too hard” to fit in with black musicians during his time with *NSYNC.

She recounted one such incident in 1999 when they met R&B singer Ginuwine – which prompted Justin to speak with a “Blaccent”, which Britney clearly found inauthentic.

A “blaccent” – a combination of the words “black” and “accent” – occurs when a non-black person imitates black English, also known as African American Vernacular English (AAVE).

Speaking about the encounter with Ginuwine, she continued: “A guy with a huge, bloodied medallion came up to us. He was flanked by two huge security guards.

“J was very excited and said so loudly: “Oh yes, fo shiz, fo shiz! Ginuwiiiiiiiine! What’s wrong, homie?”

She continued: “After Ginuwine left, [Spears’ personal assistant] Felicia did an impression of J… J wasn’t even embarrassed. He just took it and looked at her like, “Okay, fuck you, Fe.”‘

Michelle’s unexpected take on the anecdote was quickly picked up online, with some jokingly calling it “art.”

One Twitter user wrote: “Britney writing about Justin’s Blaccent and Michelle Williams imitating it is HYSTERIC. ‘I’m in shambles.’

Another commented: “(white) Michelle Williams making a replica of Britney making a replica of Justin Timberlake making a replica of a black person – that’s art.”

Others were quick to call for the star to receive awards for her work, with one person tweeting: “Give Michelle Williams whatever the Oscar is for audio books.”

Britney herself recorded a small portion of the book – but avoided sharing chapters about her family because the content was “too painful to retell,” TMZ claimed.

In the explosive memoir, Spears opens up about having an abortion at age 19 after becoming pregnant during her relationship with Timberlake.

The Womanizer singer also claims her ex cheated on her with a celebrity and ended their relationship via text message in a two-word message.

Spears also admits that she cheated with choreographer Wade Robson.
