“We have to take action”
“We have to take action. And honestly, all of us on the tech platform, regardless of what viewpoint you hold on a particular topic. I think we all benefit from the online world being a safe world,” Nadella said ahead of the NBC Nightly News interview airing Tuesday, Jan. 30, according to a transcript.
“And that's why I don't think anyone would want an online world that is completely unsafe for both content creators and consumers,” Nadella added. “That’s why I think it’s up to us to move forward quickly on this.”
The Taylor Swift controversy sparked calls for the implementation of federal laws regulating the use of AI “deepfake” technology. “I would say two things: First, I go back to what I think is our responsibility, which is all the guardrails that we need to put around technology to produce safer content. And there is a lot to do and a lot is being done. But it's about global, societal – you know, I would say convergence on certain norms. And we can – especially when there are laws, law enforcement and technology platforms that can come together – I think we can govern a lot more than we think – and we give ourselves credit,” Nadella said following the Dissemination of the images.
