The situation in the Middle East is always on the edge of a further abyss. And in these very hours another threat comes from the surrounding countries. Iranian Revolutionary Guards deputy commander Mohammad Reza Naghdi said the Mediterranean could be closed if the United States and its allies continue to commit “crimes” in Gaza, but did not explain how such a closure would be achieved. This was reported by the Iranian media. “Israel’s supporters should soon expect the closure of the Mediterranean, the Strait of Gibraltar and the remaining waterways,” he said, quoted by Tasnim. Iran does not border the Mediterranean and it is not clear how the Revolutionary Guards can close it, but Naghdi spoke of the “birth of new resistance forces.” The Red Sea “has become a nightmare for Israel and the United States,” he stressed.
