Hamas health ministry officials said at least 60 people were killed in Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip overnight.
Witnesses also reported Israeli shelling earlier today, and an AFP news agency correspondent reported that heavy shelling and airstrikes hit the south of the Palestinian territory overnight. AFP also reports that there was a telecommunications blackout in the Gaza Strip on the 99th day of the war.
Civil protection teams “recovered the bodies of 20 martyrs, including children and women, at dawn today after the occupation bombed a house in the Daraj district of Gaza City,” a correspondent for the Palestinian agency Wafa in the Gaza Strip reported.
Israel has informed Cairo that it is planning a military operation to take control of the Gaza-Egypt border itself.
