Libya yesterday began repatriating 270 illegal migrants who were intercepted in the country on their way to Europe. This was announced by Libyan Interior Minister Imad Trabelsi, citing local media.
Trabelsi explained that a series of flights will return these migrants from Tripoli to their countries of origin: Somalia, Sudan, Nigeria and Bangladesh.
Last February, a Libyan delegation led by Trabelsi was received in Rome by Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi. According to the Interior Ministry, the meeting was the first operational meeting after the resumption of the strategic dialogue between Italy and Libya on migration and security.
