After comfortably winning the mogul World Cup event at the Val Saint-Côme ski resort on Friday, Quebec’s Mikaël Kingsbury had to settle for the silver medal in the parallel mogul event on Saturday.
Born in Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, he faced two Swedes in the semifinals. After knocking out Filip Gravenfors in the semifinals, he crashed into Walter Wallberg before his last jump in the grand finals.
Kingsbury, who celebrated his 110th career podium, was the only Canadian to reach the quarterfinals after finishing his compatriot Louis-David Chalifoux’s run. Julien Viel and Elliot Vaillancourt also made it into the round of 16.
In the women’s category, the Canadians Berkley Brown and Maïa Schwinghammer also had to settle for a top 16. They each lost their duel against Perrine Laffont and Olivia Giaccio.
The Japanese Anri Kawamura triumphed in the final against Laffont. Britain’s Makayla Gerken Schofield won bronze.
