Mike Babcock has to convince

Mike Babcock would ask to search his players’ cell phones

Mike Babcock is back in the National Hockey League (NHL) and with it his unique techniques. The Columbus Blue Jackets’ new head coach wouldn’t hesitate to delve into his players’ personal lives.

According to host of the popular podcast Spittin’ Chiclets, Paul Bissonnette, Babcock Jackets captain Boone asked Jenner to join him in his office via his smartphone. He then allegedly looked at the player’s personal photos to “understand what kind of person he is.”

This lack of respect for privacy has caused a stir on social networks. According to The Athletic journalist Aaron Portzline, the Blue Jackets are aware of the allegations. However, the team did not respond.

However, according to Portzline, the NHL Players’ Association would have the file in its hands.

Babcock is considered one of the best head coaches in league history, but is also known for his bizarre and humiliating techniques towards his charges. With the Toronto Maple Leafs, Mitch Marner was forced to rank his teammates by their work intensity before sharing that list in front of the entire locker room.

With the Detroit Red Wings, forward Johan Franzen said he went through hell and was pushed into a nervous breakdown by Babcock.

The 60-year-old was hired by Columbus on July 1, just over three years after he was released by the Leafs.
