Mike Norvell talks about the process of maintaining quarterback Luke Kromenhoek's commitment | 12/20/23

State of Florida offered Luke Kromenhoek before anyone knew his name – and it paid off.

On Wednesday, the four-star prospect committed to his NLI to play in Tallahassee after being committed to Norvell since 2022, despite a last-second push from other schools to acquire his services.

Seminoles head coach Mike Norvell revealed what he saw from Kromenhoek, even though he didn't start quarterback for his high school until his junior year.

“We saw some great qualities in him early on,” Norvell told Staples. “He actually committed to us before he even started the high school game. In his second year there, he started as a receiver and defensive lineman for his program. They had a really good quarterback who was there in his second year and was waiting for his chance. He came to the camps, we were allowed to watch him work, but I believed in the young man.

“I believed in everything that would become of him. He won a state championship his first year as the starting quarterback and then continued to develop into, in my opinion, the best quarterback in the country.”

That belief became a reality as Kromenhoek emerged as one of the top quarterback prospects in the country in 2022 after throwing for 2,576 yards and 24 touchdowns while completing 65 percent of his passes at Benedictine (GA) Military School.

Kromenhoek's skills on the gridiron earned him the 40th overall pick in the cycle despite being listed as a five-star recruit back in October. He is the No. 4 QB in the cycle and the No. 6 player in Georgia. He sits next to CB at the top of the class Charles Lester III and TE Landen Thomas at the head of Mike Norvell's class of 2024.

“He did everything right,” Norvell continued. “He was a wonderful leader of this class coming together. I am so excited to see what he will bring to our football program on and off the field.”

It remains to be seen how much Kromenhoek will play in his first season at Florida State Tate Rodemaker is expected to assume the role of starting quarterback for the elimination Jordan Travis. It would probably be up to him and Brock Glenn, who is currently a true freshman at FSU and rushed for 510 yards and five touchdowns in 2023, was ranked second on the depth chart. Of course, this only applies if Kromenhoek doesn't wear his redshirt.

As a freshman, Kromenhoek will be on campus practicing with the team as they prepare Georgia in the Orange Bowl, which gave him invaluable experience as he began his first season of college football.
