Mike Tindall complains about King Charles’ coronation: ‘Pretty frustrating’

Mike Tindall, Princess Anne’s son-in-law, speaks about his seat at the coronation of King Charles, which took place on May 6th.

Mike, who is married to Charles’ niece Zara Tindall, gave a throwback to the historic ceremony on his podcast The Good, The Bad and The Rugby.

“You’re in the hottest spot, but it all happened right around the corner of the wall you can’t see!” Tindall said, adding a laugh. “You have a seat in the front row.”

Mike wasn’t really in the front row. Mike and Zara sat next to their brother Peter Phillips in the row behind Prince Harry, Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice. The actual front row was reserved for Prince William, Kate Middleton, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, Prince Louis, Prince Edward and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh.

Mike, like several other attendees at Westminster Abbey, watched the coronation ceremony on televisions mounted on the walls.

“It was amazing sitting where we were,” Mike continued. “Quite frustrating that you couldn’t see around the corner but had the TV there. And of course everything that happened there. It’s one of those moments.”

“I think the best part of the day was the six and a half hours the footmen spent in the courtyard of Buckingham Palace cheering the King three times – it was goosebumps,” he continued.

In November, Mike opened up about it when he first met his wife, the late Queen Elizabeth’s granddaughter Zara Phillips.

On an episode of the reality TV show “I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!” Tindall revealed that he had met Phillips at Manly Wharf Bar during the 2003 Rugby World Cup in Australia.

“I was at the World Cup, she was out there watching,” he said. “I was eliminated from the semifinals. I was pissed and had a beer with another guy who was eliminated and one who was over.” [in Sydney]. They knew her before, introduced us and then chatted us up.

“First real date, I just went out to lunch locally. And it ended up being pretty wet,” Tindall shared. “Then we found out that we both really like being crushed. It was a good start.”
