Economist Diana Mondino, named by the Argentine press as the future foreign minister in Javier Miler’s government, posted on her profile on X (the former Twitter) that Lula was the worst option for Brazilians in the 2022 elections.
“Lula was clearly the worst option” he wrote Mondino, on October 30, 2022, a few hours after the confirmation of the PT member’s victory against Bolsonaro. “Just pay attention to how they celebrate [Nicolás] Tires, [Evo] Morales, [Gabriel] Boric and the impoverished Kirchnerists who populate our continent.”
Milei attacked Lula several times during Argentina’s elections. The presidentelect accused the PT lawmaker of meddling in the election, calling him “communist” and “corrupt.”

On Sunday evening (11/19), Lula wrote a post celebrating the democratic process in Argentina and wishing the new government success, but did not mention Milei in the publication. The president supported the candidacy of Peronist Sergio Massa, who was defeated by the ultraliberals by more than 11 points.
Lula’s international affairs adviser Celso Amorim told columnist Bela Megale that the president should not go to Milei’s inauguration contrary to Bolsonaro, who confirmed his presence at the ceremony after a video call with the Argentine.
