Miller affair: New $9.5 million lawsuit –

One of his alleged victims just filed a new lawsuit against Robert Miller. The request is directed against the Montreal billionaire, the company he founded, Future Electronics, and two other people who were allegedly involved in a scheme designed by the businessman to sexually exploit minors. In all, the plaintiff is seeking $9.5 million in moral and punitive damages.

The damage suffered by the plaintiff is unimaginable, according to her attorney, Maryse Lapointe. I’ve never seen a story like this here in Quebec.

For the first time, a woman is accusing Robert Miller and his followers of setting up a network to recruit young girls into sex work intended for clients other than Mr. Miller. It was allegedly Raymond Poulet, who described himself as special adviser to Mr. Miller for several years, who initiated the affair.

Some young girls were recruited by Poulet for Miller […] He also met with other wealthy and influential men who were drawn to Miller and Poulet’s circles, the lawsuit says. The process does not reveal the identity of these other customers.

The story told by the victim is extremely disturbing, especially with regard to Raymond Poulet. The young girl, identified by the initials AB, had responded to an advertisement placed in 1994 or 1995 by the person acting as a matchmaker for Robert Miller. She was a minor at the time and very vulnerable.

Miller reportedly met AB at a luxury hotel in Montreal and paid her $1,000 for a bath and nude photos. She did not know his identity as he introduced himself as Bob, an American radio station owner. A few months later she would have had another sexual relationship with him in the company of another young girl.

Poulet and Miller then suggested that he recruit teenage girls to supply the sexual exploitation network.

AB then claims that she was forced to have sexual relations every week for several years with many mature men whose identities she did not know, all organized by Poulet, paid for by Future, for the benefit of Miller. She says she was drugged in a hotel during that time and woke up sore in the dirty sheets of Raymond Poulet’s apartment in Montreal’s La Cité complex.

The young woman claims to have suffered post-traumatic shock and to have come under the influence of Raymond Poulet, who exercised total control over her. As his partner, AB gave birth to a child in 1998. She claims to have completely lost the relationship with her child after leaving Raymond Poulet.

In response to Enquête’s request, Raymond Poulet responded that the data cited in the lawsuit were false and the facts were inaccurate.

Both are attorneys for Miller and his alleged victims

In The Miller System report published last February, Enquête revealed that Robert Miller was being investigated by the SPVM over allegations of sexual exploitation of minors. The report also revealed that an attorney provided by Robert Miller accompanied several alleged victims in their statements to police. These police investigations were dropped in 2010 without charges being brought.

In this case, for the first time, this lawyer is being targeted as a co-defendant in a trial. It’s Stephen Angers, a well-known criminal defense attorney in Montreal. His job was to prevent the victims from telling investigators about their experiences within the network run by Miller, the lawsuit says.

He introduced himself to them as their lawyer, but what he did in meetings with police, explains attorney Maryse Lapointe, was give the girls instructions not to give any further information to the police.

“For us, Master Angers’ actions constitute an obstruction of justice,” the lawyer concludes. I don’t know what other reasons the SPVM investigation didn’t come to light, but it sure didn’t help.

Me Angers had not responded to our call at the time of publication.

Monitoring and threats during criminal investigations

Finally, the lawsuit alleges that during the same period, the victim was forced to spy on her ex-husband Raymond Poulet at the request of Robert Miller. Poulet wanted to blackmail his boss and was promptly visited by a person hired by Future who threatened to make him and the child he had with AB disappear

Robert Miller and AB then agreed that she would monitor Raymond Poulet […] in return, Miller would stop threatening his child. For his work, AB reportedly received $2,000 a month from Terry Corcoran and Robert Stevens, owners and employees of NCIS, a security company hired by Miller and Future.

Maryse Lapointe recalls that she was a destitute teenager caught up in a system of sexual exploitation and forced to police her own system for the benefit of her attacker. My client experienced her trauma constantly and over several years.

It should also be remembered that Robert Miller and Future Electronics are facing two other lawsuits related to the system of sexual exploitation of minors that he allegedly developed: a class action bringing together 29 alleged victims and another individual lawsuit. In the latter case, the plaintiff is seeking $8 million in damages.

Robert Miller denies any involvement in a child exploitation network. He denies all allegations. Neither he nor the other defendants responded to the statement just filed.
