“The question I get asked most often is: ‘Alex, how do you buy a Lamborghini?’ “Last year I took people aged 18 to 25 and I managed to take some from zero to a supercar to bring,” Alexandre Lachance boasted again on Monday in an online video recapping the “Zero To Lambo” challenge that has managed to go viral.

However, the 26-year-old Quebec resident did not tell his 48,000 subscribers on TikTok that he pleaded guilty to two criminal charges on October 18. These have been filed against him under the Consumer Protection Act and relate to the heat pumps he sold door-to-door.

He initially admitted his guilt for “faking an inspection of the electrical system of a resident in Saguenay in order to obtain the sale of a heat pump.”

Misrepresentation

In the same case, the influencer also pleaded guilty to “falsely claiming that with the energy savings from the heat pump and the subsidy, the device would not cost the consumer anything.”

Note that Mr. Lachance was also accused of “falsely claiming to represent Hydro-Québec,” but that allegation was withdrawn last week.

The court ultimately ordered him to pay $1,200 for these two offenses within three months.

More accusations follow

The Office of Consumer Protection (OPC) believes two additional people will be charged in this case.

The company GCG Construction Inc., for which Mr. Lachance worked at the time of the offenses, faces four charges for the same reasons. The trial of this construction company, owned by Gérald Giroux, is scheduled to take place in November.

For his part, Benjamin Paris, associated with GCG Construction Inc., is accused of “false or misleading representation.” The trial against him will take place in early December.

According to the OPC, 38 complaints have been filed against GCG Construction Inc., also known as GCG Firme Énergie.
