Mindy Kaling wants to date again: ‘I haven’t ruled out romance’

Mindy Kaling is a single mother.

The 43-year-old official veterinarian made that crystal clear in an interview with Marie Claire’s Wellness Issue. “I’m the only parent of my kids,” she noted during her interview with the fashion magazine.

And the newly slimmed siren also revealed she’s not dating anyone, throwing cold water at rumors she’s reunited with her ex, BJ Novak, who she often poses with on red carpets.

The Never Have I Ever producer said she hasn’t “ruled out” romance and hopes she can find a partner.

“If you are a 42-year-old [single] Woman with kids, it makes people sad… I think, ‘There’s hope for us. There could be great stories about women like me finding love, finding happiness…” she said.

And Mindy added: “I can’t imagine anyone but me writing it, so I have to find the time to do it.”

Mindy also said that one day she will explain to her children – Katherine, four, and Spencer, one – why she had them alone.

“I want them to be old enough to talk to me about it and [tell me] how they want me to talk about it,” she shared. The star has yet to show her children’s faces on Instagram.

And Kaling also shared that her daughter doesn’t even know that mom is famous.

“This reminds me that I should probably memorize some sort of conversation to talk to her about [it]’ she shared.

And she had a reason for deciding to have kids in her late 30s.

“I waited until I had the means and that made all the difference.”

And it’s good to have a choice, she shared.

“Deciding to have a child — alone, on your own terms — has been the best part of my life … I hope women feel confident that they can do it themselves.”

Kaling also said she wishes the cost of egg freezing was lower so more women could do it.

“I wish every 19-year-old girl came home from college and the gift — instead of buying them jewelry or a vacation or whatever — was that their parents took them to freeze their eggs,” the star said.

“They could do that once and have all these balls to themselves, to their future… to focus on their careers in their 20s and 30s, and yes love, but to know that when they’re emotionally ready, and when they don’t do it “If you don’t have a partner, you can still have children.”

When she was young, she worried too much about her career to start a family, she told Marie Claire.

“I think in my twenties I was just focused on, ok, I don’t want to get fired. I want to be successful and I was only thinking about myself,” she said.

“In no way did I think about things that are most important to me now, which are my health, holding the door behind me for other people… I’ve kind of lived a much more selfish existence, which is also boring…

‘[Now] I’m surrounded by so many more people. Of course my immediate family with my children, but also this community of young women on my show.

She is the creator of the very popular series Never Have I Ever.

“When I write shows about Indian women and their interests, I want to do something original, but I also don’t want to shy away from things I’ve seen before: obsession with success; Elitism about schools,” she noted.

“These are things that were real in my family and I dealt with that. But what was really important was also the destigmatization of mental health.”

“I’m so happy with my career. I love my family. I love my freedom – I have the freedom that comes with financial stability and I don’t have to direct anything from anyone.…

“I love going on set and watching these actors say my words and come up to me and ask me what I think of things… It’s beyond the wildest dreams my late mother could have hoped for me.” .”
