MEXICO CITY, 19th August (RHC) In his report at the daily press conference this Friday, Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador reported that work to save the three wells that have trapped 10 miners since August 3 walls of the tunnels collapsed and were flooded.

Civil Protection Coordinator Laura Velázquez ruled out that the source of the flooding at mines in Coahuila state was the Sabinas River, which gives the coal deposit its name.

Experts from Germany and the United States are working with the Mexican specialists to diagnose the leaks, plug them with concrete and prevent them from running into the three main wells and going down to them to close the workers rescue.

The official clarified that the results are preliminary but important, such as the detection of a hollow between the wells through which water flows and drilling is being carried out at this point to insert a camera and determine the measures to be taken .

He said surrounding drilling is continuing and that a significant drawdown will begin soon. So far they have released 445,000 cubic meters.

In the last 24 hours, 53,000 cubic meters were pumped, the pumps continue to work continuously and pump 651 liters per minute, which means that the standing water in the wells could be between 31 and 34 meters deep. (Source/PL)
