At the meeting, which took place this Friday 24th and which was attended by many Galicians living in this city in Switzerland, the most innovative measure of the hundred that the new strategy has was presented: the program “Retorna Cualifica Emprego”, which aims to offer training and a permanent contract in Galicia to up to 400 Galicians from abroad.
The General Secretariat for Emigration has thus opened the presentation round of the ERG2026 in Europe through Switzerland, since it is the country on this continent with the largest Galician community and the fourth largest in the world since it has almost 41,300 Galicians.
As explained by Antonio Rodríguez Miranda, this informative action aims to bring all these people closer to the new strategy, which includes 100 actions to encourage returns and a budget of more than 450 million euros.
“Among all of them, those related to the workplace stand out, since a job facilitates the success of the return and the opportunities to establish oneself permanently in our society,” added the Secretary-General, hence the allocation of 175 million to the Development of 37 measures related to the professional and professional qualifications of the beneficiaries.
‘Return Qualify Emprego’
According to Miranda, the landmark Return Qualify Emprego program “will be the definitive encouragement to facilitate the return of Galicians from abroad to the community, as it strengthens one of the fundamental areas of return: work”.
This initiative aims to match vacancies in companies with the labor needs of returnees. Through this initiative, the Xunta has planned that more than 400 trained Galicians from abroad will return to Galicia this year on permanent contracts, in addition to advice and protection on their new journey. The Galician government will invest almost 4 million in this initiative, which will take a new step in matching the needs of the labor market to the workers needed.
This innovative measure will allow the beneficiaries to return to their country of origin with a contract of a minimum duration of 12 months and a financial contribution to cover the initial costs both for the outward journey to Galicia and for other organizations in the Community.
Duplicate measures and budget
The Galicia Return Strategy 2023-26 doubles both the measures and the budget compared to the previous strategy, launched in 2018 which, according to Miranda, “represented a turning point in previous return policies in Spain”. With the aim of continuing to make Galicia the best option in which to live for Galicians living abroad, the document focuses on four main areas: counseling and care, social affairs, education and the world of work.
