A former Miss Argentina and a former Miss Puerto Rico surprised their followers by announcing their wedding on Instagram. “After we decided to keep our relationship private, we opened the doors to them on a special day. 10/28/22 ❤️💍✨,” they wrote in Spanish.
Mariana Varela and Fabiola Valentín met at the Miss Grand International 2020 pageant in Thailand, where they represented Argentina and Puerto Rico, respectively. After making the pageant’s top 10, the two beauty queens appeared to continue a close friendship on social media. What their followers didn’t know is that they were secretly dating the whole time.
The couple posted the same short video to Instagram, which shows moments from their relationship including romantic walks on the beach, warm hugs, champagne toasts and a proposal with gold and silver balloons that read, “Will you marry me?”
The publication’s main image shows the couple in front of the courthouse in the city of San Juan, Puerto Rico, where they married on October 28.
His followers, celebrities and other figures of the competition congratulated Varela and Valentin on their film love.
“Congratulations,” wrote Ghanaian singer and beauty queen Abena Akuaba, who won Miss Grand International 2020. “MGI has achieved a beautiful union.”
“Thanks for all the love!” Varela wrote in response to the get well wishes. “We are very fortunate and blessed.”
