As the first and only Palermo woman to win the beauty pageant, she made her film debut in 1967 with I barbieri di Sicilia alongside Franco Franchi and Ciccio Ingrassia. During her career, she appeared in over 50 films, including Dino Risi’s Vedo Nudo
A few days before the last night in Rome, Miss Italy’s family mourns the loss of one of their historic beauty queens. Daniela Giordano, who was crowned Miss Italy in 1966, died in her Palermo after a short illness at the age of 74. The first and only Palermitan to win the famous beauty contest, the doors of cinema had opened thanks to the title conquered in Salsomaggiore: after her debut in 1967 with Franco Franchi and Ciccio Ingrassia in The Barbers of Sicily, Giordano had in fact acted in 50 films, the most from the 1970s, which varies between different genres, from westerns to period films to the Italian comedy Where I See Naked by Dino Risi with Nino Manfredi, stands out.
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Miss Italy 1966 Daniela Giordano – we read on Miss Italy’s Instagram page -. After winning the sash in Salsomaggiore, he launched a successful film career in the 1970s. We want to commemorate her with great affection, smiles and joy together with her fellow wives of this year and also with our dear Enzo Mirigliani. The Patron and we all gather around the family. Married to celebrity photographer Emilio Latini for over 30 years, Giordano would have asked to be cremated and her ashes scattered in the sea at Mondello.
