The Miss Universe pageant brings together incredible women from all over the world – and some have to travel much further distances than others to make it onto the campaign stage.
At the start of the 71st annual Miss Universe pageant on Saturday, it was revealed that Miss Laos Payengxa Lor had the longest journey.

Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray and Access Hollywood star Zuri Hall, who acted as backstage correspondents for the show, revealed Lor traveled 48 hours to do the pageant – which is taking place in New Orleans, Louisiana this year . Lor’s journey included five stops.
Miss Universe presenters added that Miss USA R’Bonney Gabriel had the shortest journey of any contestant, being four hours from her hometown of Houston, Texas.

Miss Universe presenters Olivia Culpo and Jeannie Mai-Jenkins announced during the program that Lor was in the top 16 and became the first Miss Laos to reach the semi-finals in Miss Universe history.
According to her biography, Lor is the first Hmong woman to compete in the Miss Universe pageant.
The pageant queen taught herself English and became an English teacher. She works as a motivational speaker, volunteers with disadvantaged people and has a silver medal in taekwondo.
