Miss Universe contestant retires after testing positive for COVID 19

The 71st edition of the competition of miss universe which has just begun with the arrival of the candidates for New Orleans where the grand finale of the event, which began with the loss of a contestant due to COVID-19, will take place.

This is Latvia’s representative, Kate Alexeeva, who contracted the virus a few days ago, preventing her from traveling to the United States to represent her country.

It was Alexeeva herself who was responsible for spreading the news through social networks.

“I was diagnosed with Covid just before the New Year. Complications followed. At the moment I’m still recovering, ”the European began on her Instagram account in a publication that accompanied her with a photo of herself.

“That being said, I am unfortunately forced to rescind my participation in Miss Universe this year. I still can’t believe I’m saying that 😭😭😭. This decision is made because my health and the health of the other participants and their families is a priority,” he added in the letter.

She added that she was saddened and in disbelief at the situation and wished her followers a very healthy New Year and thanked them for their support.

I’m so sad to admit it and I still can’t believe it.

This is not the first time a similar situation has occurred. When the 2021 competition was held in Israel, the representative of France tested positive for the coronavirus, but since she was already in the competition’s host country, the young woman was quarantined and was able to take part in the pre-competition and final night.
