Missing Massachusetts, DC mother Ana Walshe’s work has been a “point of tension” with her husband

Ana Walshe’s job in Washington DC was a point of tension with her husband, as the missing Massachusetts mother was spotted without her wedding ring weeks before she disappeared.

Walshe, 39, who disappeared from her home in Cohasset on New Year’s Day, appeared without her wedding ring in several of her latest Instagram photos as it was reported that the couple had a “very tense Christmas”.

Two weeks before her disappearance, the mother-of-three posed with Paul Wharton, a British gin entrepreneur, at his book signing in Washington DC. The two were locked in a tight hug as they smiled for the camera. Her ring resurfaced days later when she posted a birthday tribute to her two-year-old on December 17.

She was also spotted without her ring in some posts that were four to seven months before her disappearance. Walshe had visited her mother in Belgrade, Serbia, in November, and her mother said she did not mention anything bad to her husband at the time.

In addition to the disappearance of her ring, the couple’s living arrangements just before the holiday had caused tension as the couple had been living apart due to their jobs, a friend told The Boston Globe.

Their relationship became tumultuous from almost the beginning. Before their marriage, Walshe called DC police in August 2014 to report that Brian had threatened to “kill” her and a friend over a phone call. The case was later dropped when she refused to take part in the investigation.

The next year the couple married and eventually had three sons together and settled in Cohasset. However, as they expanded their family, Walshe expanded her career and they ran into legal trouble.

Brian pleaded guilty to fraud in 2021 after selling two fake Andy Warhol paintings for $80,000. Just before he was due to be convicted, prosecutors charged him with failing to disclose some of Walshe’s assets, including a Maserati and some real estate, according to The Boston Globe.

Although Ana Walshe was never charged in the case, her eBay account was used to list the painting and one of the victims accused her of using her position in the hospitality industry to gain buyers’ trust.

Additionally, Walshe’s social media page rarely featured photos of her husband, but rather of her children and life in Washington.

‘When [we] Look Ana, it’s usually just Ana,” Carrie Westbrook, a longtime friend, told the Boston Globe.

Additionally, another friend told The Boston Globe he never suspected any turmoil in the couple’s relationship.

“Until recently I never had any doubts that she was totally, totally in love with the man,” her boyfriend Bojan Bacevic, 40, of Belgrade, Serbia, told the outlet. The two have known each other since elementary school and he said he hasn’t noticed much of a change in her in recent months.

“It seemed like she had gotten to a point where she had achieved what she wanted in terms of family [and] work-wise. And she wanted to live a bit more freely somehow.’

Other friends also said there was “no evidence of anything suspicious” in the hours before Ana’s disappearance, but some admitted she was trying to sell her home and car for cash in December and others just before her disappearance wanted to sell assets.

Walshe’s friends and Revere tenants, Mike and Mandi Silva, told Fox News Digital that the decision to sell the apartment they lived in weighed on them and that over time it became unusually “pushy” towards them .

However, a source said the “proceeds from the sale of the Revere condo went directly to the purchase of another investment property rather than Ana herself.”

Another friend, Abdulla Almutairi, had texted Walshe around midnight on New Year’s Eve and then heard nothing from her for a few days. He said he didn’t think anything out of the ordinary until he was told a missing persons report had been filed.

Brian Walshe was arrested for misleading investigations.

The affidavit said: “The premeditated, premeditated and direct responses to questions regarding his whereabouts on the dates of Sunday January 1, 2023 and Monday January 2, 2023 were a clear attempt to mislead investigators and to delay.

“The fact that he was asked a specific question and gave an untrue answer that led investigators out of the area caused a significant delay in the search for missing person Ana Walshe.”

The judge posted bail at $500,000 in cash and the next hearing is scheduled for February 9, 2023.

Walshe pleaded not guilty on Monday, January 9th.

Walshe’s mysterious disappearance was subsequently treated by police as a non-suspect with no evidence of foul play.

But last week’s revelations drew international attention to the story.

Hours before her disappearance, Ana Walshe reportedly wrote a “spooky note” on a champagne case, wishing her husband “courage, love and perseverance” in the New Year.

The scrawled note, first transcribed by the New York Post, read, “Wow! 2022…What a year! And yet we are still here and together!

“Let’s make 2023 the best yet! We are the authors of our lives…courage, love, perseverance, compassion and joy. With love, Ana.«

The other side of the champagne case read: “Gem Ana Brian 2023!”, referring to family friend Gem Mutlu, who was at the Walshe home hours before the disappearance on New Year’s Eve.

Brian Walshe first reported that his wife took an Uber or Lyft to the airport to fly to Washington DC for work on Jan. 1.

Walshe reportedly planned to travel on Jan. 3 but said she had to fly earlier due to an emergency.

Police investigations could not confirm that Walshe ever took a taxi to the airport.

Husband Brian Walshe also told investigators he shopped for his mother on New Year’s Day, but CVS surveillance could not support the alibi.

Walshe also did not tell police that he spent about $450 in cash to buy gloves, duct tape and cleaning supplies at a Massachusetts Home Depot.

Walshe was spotted wearing a black surgical mask and blue surgical gloves.

The trip was reportedly made during the time he was due to pick up his children from school, although the school was closed on January 2.

Ana Walshe was only reported missing by her employer on January 4.

Police then found a hacksaw, hatchets, pieces of carpet, used cleaning supplies and bloody garbage bags in dumpsters at the Peabody transfer station across Boston.

Officials later announced that they had discovered blood in the basement of the Walshe family home in Cohasset, along with a damaged and bloodied knife.
