Missionary stabbed to death in serious but stable condition in Colombia Church News

A full-time missionary from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in the Colombia Cali Mission remains hospitalized in serious but stable condition after being stabbed to death on Friday morning, February 24.

Elder Maxwell Fish, 19, of San Antonio, Texas, has had multiple surgeries, church spokesman Sam Penrod said in a statement Sunday, Feb. 26.

Elder Fish and his companion were the victims of a robbery and assault, they were attacked in the street, and Elder Fish was stabbed in the neck, Penrod said.

“Her partner was not physically injured and is receiving emotional therapy,” he added. “Other missionaries in the vicinity of the attack have been moved out of the area as a precaution.

“Our prayers are with these missionaries and their families,” Penrod said, “for strength and healing during this difficult time.”
