MJF and Samoa Joe brawled at All Out. On the surface, it appeared to be a heated encounter that would set up MJF’s next world title feud. The story goes much deeper.
Here is the clip of the fight. The heat started when Joe pushed MJF onto the stage as he passed. MJF snapped and stormed to the ring to throw punches.
Many may remember a similar moment seven years ago at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn II in 2016. As Joe walked to the ring for an NXT title match, a familiar face accompanied the champion as security. MJF! Young Maxwell happened to get a little too close to Joe and was immediately pushed out of the way. Here is the scene comparison.
Joe undoubtedly egged the AEW World Champion on for a future match. MJF took the bait. This time he has the pressure to fight back. MJF posted a salty message for Joe.
Oh yeah. MJF vs Joe will be fun to watch.
Adam Cole commented on the situation in a backstage interview. Cole is concerned about MJF’s health due to the neck injury sustained during the ROH Tag Title defense. He’ll point out to MJF that sometimes it’s wise to play it safe. Cole hopes MJF can calm down long enough to heal to 100% before colliding with Joe.
Cole has his own story of a violent encounter with Joe. At NXT in 2021, Joe strangled Cole backstage.
Cole had the last laugh as he defeated Joe in an AEW ring to win the 2022 Owen Hart Cup tournament. It’s good to have friends, and MJF has the right friend in Cole. Mr. Bay Bay should be able to provide valuable insight for strategic purposes as MJF and Joe wrestle in sanctioned matches. I hope Cole and MJF listen to Wu-Tang Clan because Protect Ya Neck would be good advice.
As we rummage through the chests of history, this gem is too timely not to share. WWE has a video of MJF’s audition for Tough Enough. This was posted eight years ago, before our bastard came along in 2023 AD.
The question we will soon have an answer to is whether MJF is better than Samoa Joe.
