My Kitchen Rules couple Carly and Tresne announce their one-year-old daughter has died after a battle with leukemia

My Kitchen Rules stars Carly Saunders and Tresne Middleton have announced the sad news that their baby daughter, Poppy Grace, has died aged just 20 months.

The couple, who documented their journey in raising a sick child, told their Instagram followers on Thursday that their little girl had lost her battle with leukemia.

They posted a photo of their child on their shared account and wrote: “This morning we lost our precious baby Poppy Grace.

“True to her form, she fought tooth and nail to her last breath. Her leukemia took over and on her last bleed the blasts were 787,000. That fighting spirit was so evident throughout their fight and it was so evident over the past four traumatic days.

“Poppy showed us what it means to be thankful and happy no matter what cards you’re dealt.

The mothers said their little girl made the most of her short time in the world

“She made the most of her time on earth, dancing, giggling and smiling until days before the end. She was loving and funny and caring. She was smart and insightful.

“She had a heart of gold and she was so bright and radiant with joy. We were honored to be their mothers and we didn’t take it for granted for a second, not a second.

“She taught us so much in her short 20 months and we’ve never experienced love so all-encompassing.”

The mothers said they were “so sorry” to share the news with their supporters, some of whom had donated blood, money and gifts to their daughter and others who were living with leukaemia.

“We know so many children, teens and adults alike have followed their journey and we don’t want to hurt their beautiful hearts,” they continued.

“Please tell them that Poppy’s star shines brightly above them, encouraging them to be strong in adversity and to make the best of life and all of its sparkling opportunities.”

Carly and Tresne have started a Life Blood Donation Group in Poppy’s name where their followers can come together to donate blood and hopefully help sick adults and children like Poppy.

“The Poppy Grace Lifeblood Group is fourth in the Newcastle Region Rankings. Let’s put them first,” said the mothers.

“She encouraged so many of us to stand up and help others by donating blood. Please continue to donate blood on her behalf.

“We’ll get back up for Poppy. We don’t know what that looks like yet – we are lost and our purpose is gone.

“But we’ll be back soon and living our lives to the fullest in her honor. Good things can be done from the experiences we have had, there is much to share and many ways we can improve the lives of oncology children and their parents.

“Until then we will be resting so we can stand up for our Poppy who is forever 20 months.”

Donation bookings can be made on the Lifeblood website or by calling 13 14 95
