Being substituted from a team is certainly an unusual occurrence in a professional athlete’s career. However, when a formation announces to a player that he has to leave the game because he is being substituted, that is completely unusual.
That situation occurred Friday night for the New York Mets’ Eduardo Escobar, who was traded to the Los Angeles Angels for two minor league contenders.

However, the 34-year-old was out of uniform during the Mets’ 5-1 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies.
His teammate Francisco Lindor was visibly moved and shocked when he heard the news during the game.
“He’s one of the best teammates I’ve ever had,” Lindor said in an interview broadcast on Apple TV. He’s an exceptional player. I just found out about him at the shelter and will miss him very much. I don’t know where he’s going but no matter where he goes I hope he has the opportunity to help this team win. He’s one of the players who adapts best to the culture of the team [des Mets de New York] and he will be greatly missed,” he said in the third inning of Friday’s game.
Escobar has a .236 batting average and four home runs in 40 games with the Mets this season.
The Venezuelan native has played for the Chicago White Sox, Minnesota Twins, Arizona Diamondbacks and Milwaukee Brewers throughout his career.
