Mocidade Alegre is Champion of the São Paulo Carnival

A Mocidade Alegre is master of Carnival 2023 in Sao Paulo. After a heated argument with Green spotChampion of 2022, the title returned to Morada do Samba this Tuesday, 21, nine years after the last conquest in 2014. With the highest score (270), the federation lost no points the only 9.9 it received was discarded And won the 11th title in its history. The fifth school to parade Saturday, Mocidade, took Mozambican Yasuke with them first black samurai in Japanese history.

Second it was Green spot (269.9 points); in the 3rd, Empire of Casa Verde (269.9); in the 4th, tatuape (269.9), and in the 5th, the Royal Dragons (269.8). Império, Tatuapé and Dragões stayed close to the leaders throughout the calculation and even fought for second place, which ended up going to Mancha itself. The top 5 return to the Sambadrome for next Saturday’s Champions’ Parade. The two clubs were relegated to access group 1 United from Vila Mariawho placed 13th, and Star of the 3rd millenniumin the 14th

The conquest of Mocidade was full of emotions and was only guaranteed in the last grade, in the Fantasy category. But not from fright: a 9.9 that could have cost the lead (and the title), contested closely and alternately with Mancha Verde they were never more than 1 tenth apart Anhembi held on to this one through all the calculations Tuesday afternoon.

Both were tied with an advantage for Mocidade by tiebreaker criteria to the penultimate point, Master of Ceremonies and Flag Bearer. But Mancha lost a tenth in the partial and the way was clear for Mocidade, isolated and allowed to take a 9.9 in the last four notes, to take first place when the other three were 10s.

To the shock of supporters of the redgreenwhite school, that is exactly what happened. The shock at the end, however, was taken away by relief. With three maximum scores, Mocidade reached 270 and took the title. “How many things happen on the last note, eh? We had this fear, but everything worked out,” school principal Solange Bichara said after the exam.

To the press, she even praised the married couple Natália Lago, master of ceremonies and flagbearer, and Jeferson Gomes, who made their debut for the school this year, as well as the plot proposed by carnival designer Jorge Silveira. “He convinced us that it was the right thing to do, and it was,” the president said.

Depictions of Japanese geisha and samurai indicated this Mocidades whim and care for imagination, which gave it its title. On the chariots, a warrior bathed by a waterfall and the dragon embracing a sword spinning on the allegory also impressed the audience. The final allegory, featuring a black boy holding an origami and a book, brought the message All children can be whoever they want, like Yasuke.

The questions were scored in the following order: harmony, battery, plot, allegory, evolution, Samba enredo, front commission, main room and flag bearer and finally, fantasy. Neither school was penalized and no points were deducted before grades were announced.

For the first item, practically all schools ended up with the highest score (30 points). just that Tucuruviwhose action paid homage to the sambista Bezerra da SilvaShe had deducted a point the school would also have gotten a 9.8, but that was deleted. Already at this stage of investigation, the carnavalescos of major tone It is Independent tricolor celebrated all 10 received.

In terms of the battery, the upward balance was maintained. In the third grade, all schools except Rosas de Ouro received a grade of 10 and maintained the maximum score. Rosas de Ouro ended up getting two 9.9’s and parted from the leading block which still had 12 associations and connected with Unidos do Tucuruvi who had already lost a tenth in the part of Harmonia.

The great blocks of bound schools began to dismember themselves in the fourth point, allegory, which evaluates the floats. The judges were more demanding and only Mancha Verde and Império de Casa Verde achieved four top marks. The two began to lead the argument, followed by Mocidade Alegre and Tatuapé, who even had discounts. Vila Maria and Rosas de Ouro were the last two in the classification.

At the next point evolution, however, the tip changes. With a 9.8, Mancha Verde dropped to second and saw Mocidade take the lead. The two schools had the same score (150 points), but Mocidade was the best on the tiebreaker criterion—higher score at the inflection point of the calculation. Tucuruvi and Estrela do 3° Milênio occupied the last two positions after this part.

In Sambaenredo the positions were not reversed. Mocidade and Mancha “bragged” and stayed in the top two, followed by Império de Casa Verde, Tatuapé, Dragões da Real and Tom Maior, a tenth down but separated by the tiebreak criteria.

At the top of the commission, there was again a high volume of top marks, which changed little in the position of the schools at the top. Mocidade stayed ahead of the current champions, Tatuapé finished third and Vila Maria dropped to last place with Estrela do 3° Milênio in second place.

However, there was a turning point on the penultimate question. Losing two tenths saw Mancha Verde drop to fourth and Mocidade took the lead even more isolated without depending on tiebreakers and with the freedom to get a 9.9 if they managed to hit three more 10s .

In the final and crucial aspect, Mocidade even got a 9.9, which worried the directors since Mancha had top marks. But there was no further reversal and the discard guaranteed Mocidade Alegre’s 11th title. Unidos de Vila Maria, who dedicated a story about the school itself, and Estrela do 3º Milênio, who spoke about the importance of laughter and the history of comedy, both finished with 269.1 points and were relegated to Access Group 1.
