The conquest of Mocidade was full of emotions and was only guaranteed in the last grade, in the Fantasy category. Both were tied with an advantage for Mocidade by tiebreaker criteria to the penultimate point, Master of Ceremonies and Flag Bearer. But Mancha lost a tenth in the partial and the way was clear for Mocidade, isolated and allowed to take a 9.9 in the last four notes, to take first place when the other three were 10s.

The questions were scored in the following order: harmony, battery, plot, allegory, evolution, Samba enredo, front commission, main room and flag bearer and finally, fantasy. Neither school was penalized and no points were deducted before grades were announced.

In Sambaenredo the positions were not reversed. Mocidade and Mancha “bragged” and stayed in the top two, followed by Império de Casa Verde, Tatuapé, Dragões da Real and Tom Maior, a tenth down but separated by the tiebreak criteria.
At the top of the commission, there was again a high volume of top marks, which changed little in the position of the schools at the top. Mocidade stayed ahead of the current champions, Tatuapé finished third and Vila Maria dropped to last place with Estrela do 3° Milênio in second place.
However, there was a turning point on the penultimate question. Losing two tenths saw Mancha Verde drop to fourth and Mocidade took the lead even more isolated without depending on tiebreakers and with the freedom to get a 9.9 if they managed to hit three more 10s .
In the final and crucial aspect, Mocidade even got a 9.9, which worried the directors since Mancha had top marks. But there was no further reversal and the discard guaranteed Mocidade Alegre’s 11th title. Unidos de Vila Maria, who dedicated a story about the school itself, and Estrela do 3º Milênio, who spoke about the importance of laughter and the history of comedy, both finished with 269.1 points and were relegated to Access Group 1.
