A mother of four who was called to a jury but could not find a babysitter had to take her 18-month-old triplets and five-year-old daughter to court to avoid paying a $1,000 fine.
Utah’s Torrey Scow had big problems when she learned in June that she had to attend to her civilian duties while her babysitter was on vacation.
With her husband, Kody, busy with work, Torrey decided to go to court with their four young children, Emory, Lexi, Zoey, and Lincoln in tow — and it certainly was an experience.
She hoped the judge would excuse her once he saw her predicament – but instead she was held there for two and a half hours while the little ones “screamed” and “threw things on the floor”.

“My day: jury duty with triplets = a nightmare,” she captioned a montage of clips taken in court.
“If only you could have seen everyone’s looks when I walked in… I felt so sorry for everyone there with us.”
“Definitely one of my worst mom moments.” But thank god it’s over now.’
In one clip, she could be seen transporting the three babies in a giant wagon while her five-year-old walked alongside them. And in another instance, she gave the younger ones treats and bottles to distract them.
“Me and Kory haven’t even gone to church with all the babies for so long because it’s too much,” she told her followers offstage.
“Except for us, it was dead quiet,” she continued. “I ended up taking them out of the car because they had been there screaming for over an hour.
“I didn’t even bring them shoes because I didn’t think we wouldn’t be staying there long. They walked up to the judges’ table again and again.

Torrey said she gave the kids “more snacks than they’ve ever eaten in their entire lives” to “silence them up.”
She explained that one of the officers on duty was “kind enough” to bring her a “garbage can full of toys,” which “helped immensely.”

Other moments in the video showed the triplets walking around the courthouse while she tried to keep them in one area.
“Of course all three babies pooped too, so the room smelled so bad,” she added. “I’m shocked they didn’t kick us out sooner but kept us all along.” But we made it.

Speaking to People about it, Torrey explained that if you don’t show up for jury duty, you’ll be fined $1,000, leaving her with no choice but to attend.
She told the outlet that she was given only three days’ notice and that she is finding it extremely difficult to find new caregivers as many people cannot handle “all four” of their young children at once.
“It would be easier if they were older toddlers, though [three of them are] “Silent babies who need bottles and change at different times,” she said.
She recalled that the courtroom was “dead silent” except for her noisy little ones.
“They’re at that stage where they’re screaming at the top of their lungs.” “It’s not possible to shut up one baby, let alone three,” she joked.
“My older daughter is so good she just sits and tries to help while they throw their bottles on the floor.” Everyone looked at us.

While she’s now able to take it lightly, she said the experience left her “physically and emotionally exhausted” and almost brought her to tears
“It’s all so worth it.” “You’re going to have tough moments, but the good times come three times and that’s the absolute best part,” she said of having so many young children at the same time
“I was sure the judge would see me and excuse me, but he started answering so many questions.
“And I couldn’t even hear them because my babies were so loud that other people in the room would prompt him to repeat questions.”

“It was dead quiet and all eyes were on me. I was so close to crying at the end, and then they finally let us go,” she recalls.
When asked what the hardest thing about having so many young children was, Torrey explained that it wasn’t able to accommodate everyone at once.
“You only have two arms, so every time I take her somewhere, I have to carry two and get one back,” she explained.
In the end, she said she wouldn’t change a thing, especially since she welcomed triplets after struggling with infertility issues for years.
“It’s all so worth it.” You will have tough moments, but if you have a child or no children at all, you will [still] “I have difficult moments,” she concluded.
“But good times get you three, and that’s the absolute best thing.” Try to put all those worries aside and be positive.
“I think the most important thing is just to stay positive.” It’s all working out. “It can be so stressful, but it’s so worth it because 3 times the laughter, 3 times the smile, 3 times the cuddle.”
