Veteran Canadiens center Sean Monahan, who is close to returning to action after suffering a foot injury, continued his fitness on Friday in Toronto.

The 28-year-old Ontarian skated alone while the rest of the team enjoyed a day off, reported our colleague Renaud Lavoie.
Monahan has not played since December 5 after an interesting start to the season.
Some time ago he started skating again. He attended the team’s training session on Thursday wearing a vest which indicated he could not get contact.
Monahan, who was acquired by the Calgary Flames last summer, has 17 points in 25 games this season and could be traded from the CH by the March 3 deadline despite his injuries.
By then, he might as well come back into the game.
The Canadiens face the Maple Leafs tomorrow night, a game that will be shown on TVA Sports.
