Monteregie Suspicious package at customs in Lacolle

Montérégie: Suspicious package at customs in Lacolle –

A suspicious package forced the closure of the Lacolle border crossing in Montérégie in both directions on Thursday evening.

It was around 6:30 p.m. when the Border Services Agency called for help from the Sûreté du Québec regarding a suspicious package.

“We are still reviewing this file,” said Camille Savoie, spokeswoman for the SQ, adding that customs have been closed in both directions in relation to this incident.

For its part, Quebec 511 pointed out that Highway 15 South is closed indefinitely.

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) recommends motorists wishing to cross the border use the Hemmingford border crossing and routes 221 and 223.

“All lanes of the Saint-Bernard-de-Lacolle border crossing, Route 15, are closed to traffic due to a law enforcement action,” the CBSA said on Twitter.
