Montreal: A Jean Coutu pharmacy was damaged by fire

A fire caused serious damage at a Jean Coutu pharmacy in the Saint-Laurent neighborhood of Montreal on Wednesday night.

The fire broke out around midnight at the facility on Boulevard Décarie near Rue de l’Église, according to the Montreal Fire Department (SIM).

The flames did not spread to the adjacent building and no one was injured as the pharmacy was closed, but the damage appears to be extensive.

More than 75 firefighters were mobilized to fight the fire after a second alarm broke out, a SIM spokesman said, without specifying the extent of the damage.

SIM inspectors were due to travel in the morning to try and determine the circumstances of this fire, the cause of which is currently unknown, was added.
