Montreal: Arson of a luxury vehicle in Beaconsfield –

Montreal police are investigating a suspicious fire that targeted a luxury vehicle in an affluent neighborhood of Beaconsfield in the west of the island on Tuesday night.

The Montreal City Police Service (SPVM) was alerted around 12:40 p.m. to a report of a burning vehicle in a private entrance to a residence on Rue Alice-Carrière, near Rue Malcolm-Beaton.

Firefighters from the Montreal Fire Department, who quickly brought the flames under control, concluded that the fire could be of criminal origin.

No one was injured in the fire and there was no damage to property, said SPVM spokesman Jean-Pierre Brabant.

The investigation was transferred to the SPVM’s Arson Unit while the Mercedes vehicle, which sustained extensive damage, was towed away for assessment.

Investigators were expected to travel to the scene later Wednesday morning to analyze the scene and try to shed light on what happened.

They should meet possible witnesses and view surveillance cameras to determine the exact causes and circumstances of this event, it said.
