A 52-year-old man was shot and injured Thursday night in Pointe-Claire on Montreal’s West Island.
Calls to 911 alerted the Service de Police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) to an injured man after gunshots were heard near Donegani Avenue and King Avenue.
When police arrived at the scene, they found the victim had been hit in the lower body by at least one projectile from a firearm, SPVM spokeswoman Sabrina Gauthier said.
The 50-year-old was transported to a hospital for treatment of injuries that would not endanger his life, the SPVM said.
According to initial information, there is said to have been a conflict between the victim and the suspects, who fled before the police arrived.
The crime scene was protected by a security perimeter for investigators and forensic identification technicians who need to shed light on this assassination attempt.
The canine department was also called while witnesses were met by investigators, who need to look at security cameras to complete their investigation.
