A Montreal rapper, who was released from prison at the end of March, didn’t enjoy his freedom for long after being arrested in connection with an armed attack that took place at a Mirabel bar last week.
Yahya Mouhime, known as VT, was handcuffed in Mascouche on Thursday morning, Le Journal has learned.

The latter is suspected of taking part, along with several suspects, in an armed attack that took place on the night of May 18 at the Le Garage stripper bar in Mirabel.
According to our information, Mouhime and the victim, a man in his 30s, knew each other. However, for a reason that is still unclear, the young rapper once brandished a knife to stab the man near the heart.
The victim was seriously injured, but Mirabel Police confirm that she is now out of danger. His cooperation during the investigation would have been limited, but thanks to the bar’s surveillance cameras, the police were able to quickly identify Mouhimine, as he had not thought to change his physical appearance.
Mouhime appeared at the Saint-Jérôme courthouse on Thursday afternoon, where he was charged with three counts of assault and assault and robbery.
The Crown Prosecutor named in the file, Me Steve Baribeau, refused to release the accused.
“We will receive the evidence soon, it will allow us to position ourselves for the rest, including the release investigation,” said Me Serge Lamontagne of the defense.

Another parallel investigation
It so happens that the young 21-year-old rapper is well known to the police, as he appeared in one of his music videos with his friends brandishing stolen firearms.

According to our information, Mouhime is also currently under investigation by the Service de Police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) for at least one violent incident allegedly committed since his release from prison in late March.
On Thursday, the SPVM conducted searches in Sainte-Marthe-sur-le-Lac, Terrebonne, Montreal and Mascouche, during which people from its “close guard” were handcuffed.
The Montreal police investigation is ongoing and no charges have yet been filed. According to our information, the other suspects were released after being met by investigators.
“Of course we wanted to make our presence clear. Summer is coming, we want to show them that they can hide wherever they want, we will find them,” a well-crafted source endorsed the file.
Since his release, police have targeted Mouhime, who is known for his “risky” behavior that can endanger the safety of the public.
After his release from prison, “VT” also gave an interview to a YouTube channel in which he told about his last arrest and his time in prison.

“Enjoying the freedom is priceless,” he then said in the video published on April 11.
