Emergency services were notified around 11pm on Saturday when flames broke out at the rear of the building on Jarry Street, near Collerette Street.

“Initial information indicates that one or more suspects broke a window at the rear of the building and then an incendiary object was thrown inside. An incendiary object was found at the scene,” said Agent Caroline Chèvrefils, spokesperson for the SPVM.

The fire was quickly brought under control by firefighters from the Montreal Fire Department (SIM) and damage was minimal.

There were no injuries as no one was in the building at the time of the fire.

“There are currently no arrests. “Possible surveillance cameras near the site are being checked,” emphasized officer Chèvrefils.

The investigation has been assigned to the SPVM's Arson Unit.
